Consumer Product Safety and Compliance Lead

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Compliance Lead for our “Centre of Excellence” collaboration focused on developing new and innovative products through extensive research and understanding of cannabis with a focus on research and development.

Reporting to the Categories Programme Manager, the Compliance II is responsible to integrate compliance and consumer product safety for all initiatives within the New Category Programme. You are an expert in all relevant regulations and a champion for product safety.

This position is based in our facility located in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for product evaluation (safety and toxilogical perspectives);
  • Manage data from Product Development and Analytical teams;
  • Lead and support CPS and Compliance team initiatives;
  • Ensure validation of regulatory framework with EM LEX;
  • Oversee delivery against global chemical safety legislations like GHS, REACH variants; assuring global compliance in subject areas such as classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (processes including hazard communication, SDS authoring, labelling, product classifications, product registrations/reporting, and risk assessments);
  • Manage chemical compliance action plans to determine direction;
  • Define requirements for a science plan for specified products;
  • Lead Compliance team in all regulatory requirements;
  • Manage licensing, certifications, reporting, audits and applicable permits;
  • Oversee systems and process to ensure compliance across the New Categories Programme;
  • Lead cross-functionally to ensure all Consumer Product Safety and Compliance activities and objectives are delivered on time and in full;
  • Liaise with the broader teams (BAT/OGI);
  • Other duties as may be required.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Health or other Technical Science field;
  • 5+ years’ practical experience in an R&D environment;
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of Next Generation Products, including composition, function, and operating principles;
  • Experience in development and validation of chemical and biological methodology;
  • Excellent knowledge of the Cannabis Act;
  • Strategic planning and implementation skills;
  • Ability to practice a high level of confidentiality;
  • Excellent organizational management skills;
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of projects;
  • Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence key stakeholders up to senior level.
