Class 1 Transfer Driver

Shifts 4x8 (winter months) / 5x8 (summer months) PM shift, start approx 5pm (Days TBD)

Position Overview

The Transfer Driver will be responsible for transfer shifts based out of Prince George and back.

• Competitive hourly rate for first 3 months ($27.46 per hour)

Duties And Responsibilities

• Transports loaded and empty Gordon Food Service trailers from Distribution Centres or from point-to-point via night transit in a timely manner;
• Collaborates with the Manager and Lead Hands for work assignments, changes in assignment and on-time delivery performance of work assignments
• Performs proper equipment maintenance, monitors refrigeration unit, and report maintenance issues and all physical damages
• Completes driver check-ins as required
• Maintains safe work and safe driving practices
• Performs daily pre/post trip inspection of vehicles to include proper completion of paperwork and inspection forms, and entering route information into the computer system
• Maintains accurate and complete required DOT and GFS logs daily
• Adheres to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  

Required Skills And Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
• Eligibility for bonding and transportation of dangerous goods (TDG) certification
• Strong customer service orientation
• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance
• High level of personal integrity and strong work ethic
• Professional demeanor under stressful situations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
• Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Nights availability
