Your Opportunity

The role of a Civil EIT is to work as a team member on small and large projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer to develop skills in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering designs and solutions for transportation and infrastructure projects.

As a Civil EIT you primary role will be to support Senior Engineers on highway on infrastructure projects while joining Stantec’s extensive transportation team gaining additional exposure to the other service areas we provide including bridges, ports, traffic, community development, water, construction, survey, transit, rail and project management.

Supported by a large team in your development towards a professional qualification (P.Eng.) and beyond; and working within a strong collaborative team with focus on developing excellence and a strong culture of safety, the Civil EIT will perform a variety of design and coordination related project tasks for a range of public and private clients.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Uses knowledge of the general concepts of relevant civil engineering elements including the design of roadways, drainage, grading, water and sewer for multi-discipline projects.
• Collaborate with professional team members from other disciplines of work to develop holistic transportation and infrastructure designs.
• Assists the team in preparing reports, conducts basic calculations, and performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
• Assist Senior Engineer’s in preparation of proposals and support business development efforts.
• The role is primarily office based in Kelowna, but may require occasional field work which could include site reviews. Opportunities for construction inspection/administration may also be provided.
• Our projects are located throughout the province, as such occasional travel for short durations may also be required.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
• Basic understanding of (or proficiency with) general concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering and transportation design.
• Basic understanding of (or proficiency with) AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Basic understanding of (or proficiency with) other industry related software is a benefit which could include GIS, InRoads, Synchro, other relevant design software and knowledge of calculations performed by the software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.
• Class 5 driver’s license.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field & EIT. Minimum of 0-2 years of experience.
• Co-op/Internship or other relevant engineering or construction related experience preferred.
• Enrolment (or eligibility to enroll) with EGBC as an Engineer-in-Training.
