The Opportunity

Reporting to the Capital Projects and Asset Lifecycle Manager, the Capital Projects Coordinator is responsible to analyze and monitor equipment maintenance data for downtime trends and maintenance spending trends. They will work with original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) to make recommendations and plan projects and strategies related to equipment repairs, rebuilds, replacements, and new equipment purchases. They will assist in Capital Project Management and the long-term Capital Project 5-year Plan for budgeting and spending strategies based on the consequences of equipment failure and the business’ needs/acceptable risks (i.e., avoiding unscheduled downtime by planning the right repair, rebuild, or replacement at the right time). This person considers these business parameters, the tools available, and how best to support the Maintenance department.

A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:
  • Lifecycle Costing for budgeting and forecasting rebuilds / replacements
    • Using SAP data for existing assets
    • Working with vendors to obtain OEM data
        • Requesting from existing vendors and new vendors
  • Technical writing for Capital Expense project approval requests
  • Sourcing quotes and managing project scopes
  • Managing Capital project budgets and spending
      • Forecasting project spending.
  • Coordinating logistics for technicians / contractors: Safety orientations, coordinating and completing customs paperwork, and additional paperwork
  • Project Management tasks including:
    • Scheduling key milestone dates and managing project schedules accordingly to ensure timely completion
    • Proposal pricing breakdowns
    • Capital purchase orders
    • Receiving of invoices and coordinating with corporate AP for payments, down payments, etc.
    • Follow up on order delivery ETA’s
    • Logistics for CER’s – shipping coordination, parts kitting, coordinating micro-biological swabs and equipment sanitation to get new equipment into building in a food safe fashion
    • Working with equipment manufacturers to obtain Operation, Maintenance, Sanitation manuals for all assets
    • Working with equipment manufacturers to obtain critical spare parts lists and drawings / catalogs
    • Ordering of critical spare parts for new equipment
    • Completing regulatory forms for new equipment (NEMA Forms)
    • Putting together detailed construction plans

What You Will Bring

The Capital Projects Coordinator is an experienced leader with at least 5 years of work experience in a maintenance planning, construction planning, or engineering technician role, applying proven best practices in an industrial environment. The Coordinator is an experienced technical writer and any past experience with project management would be an asset. A maintenance /construction planning or engineering technician diploma is required, while a university degree is preferred. The Coordinator is experienced with using a SAP, CMM/EAM system, and MS Office tools and with applying Standard Operating Procedures in his/her work. The Coordinator follows company policies, standards, and guidelines as they apply to all activities.

The Coordinator has strong leadership and communication skills, works well in a team environment, is responsible, disciplined, and is open to change. The person is structured, results oriented, and quality driven.

The Capital Projects Coordinator promotes and maintains a safe working environment through compliance with MLF’s Health and Safety Program. This includes Food Safety and Environmental compliance.
