Position Summary:

The Business Development Manager is responsible for formulating and implementing Ottawa’s business development strategies based on the strategic directions and sales targets; lead the business development programs and initiatives in the region, accountable for the deliverables and outcomes, act as a thought partner and advisor to other MARANT divisions. The Business Development Manager is a key member of MARANT’s BD team and works closely with the company’s leadership team in Ottawa. This is a challenging role that requires established skills, as well as a basic understanding of the internal operations related to the real estate, design and construction market segments. The successful candidate is a highly motivated, collaborative team player with well developed people and partnership skills. Our ideal Business Development candidate can quickly gain trust and respect in the market and is able to establish and maintain relationships.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for identifying, evaluating and capturing new business opportunities in Ottawa.
  • Develop relationships that will lead to and generate business opportunities, from within the real estate and landlord community, design and project management communities.
  • Participate in the development of strategic business targets for negotiated and tendered opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain positive business relationships with clients, particularly at the C-suite executive level of private corporations.
  • Lead BD presentations.
  • Assist with ideas to develop innovative public relations and/or promotional programs to generate corporate awareness within specific target audiences.
  • Maintain the company’s Lead List Tracker Salesforce System (CRM) and provide regular updates on strategic progress and forecast.
  • Support the transition from project pursuit to project implementation.
  • Network within the various industry associations and gain knowledge on national and local economic trends impacting construction opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of business development experience, preferable in the construction, project management, commercial real estate, or similar.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with advanced presentation skills.
  • Detailed understanding of contract development work with the ability to understand, analyze and apply data.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability, as a business developer, to winning work.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, adapt to changing priorities, maintain patience in high pressure situations and take initiative where appropriate.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and Salesforce CRM platforms.
