With recent substantial growth, we are searching for a key team role of Business Development Manager.

Position Overview

The Business Development Manager (Intermodal & Truckload) provides daily contact with customers. Their primary responsibility is to build the relationship through continuously improving industry and product knowledge and developing new business through Intermodal & Truckload sales activities. Responsibilities include to maximizing profitability, ensuring customer requirements are met, and building a strong working relationship with customers.

Your Key Responsibilities

You are driven to continually improve upon the customer experience and are enthusiastic and positive about learning new ways to better the business. You are skilled at using computers and a master at using a CRM system. You are a person who is responsible, self-motivated, detailed oriented, and a good communicator. You have a proven track record of providing excellent customer service and troubleshooting solutions in a busy industry and possess the following:

  • Utilize a consultative sales approach to identify, solicit, and secure new business from existing and new customers for Intermodal/Truckload transportation & Transload services
  • Continue to foster relationships with Customers through constant contact offering advice, solutions, and proactive issue management
  • Create and deliver contract service level agreements capturing expectations
  • Provide effective solutions for Customers through extensive knowledge of relevant modes of transportation Truck, Rail, Intermodal, freight forwarding as well as Transloading
  • Develop and leverage constructive relationships with external stakeholders, gaining access to key decision-makers
  • Collaborate with support departments (Finance and Operations) to drive process efficiency and deliver results for the Customer
  • Monitor, improve and report upon key performance indicators including financial performance
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop and facilitate financial packages for Customers, mediating pricing and any discrepancies
  • Input relevant data into the CRM system and create and manage reporting for Operations, Finance and Customers as required
  • Conduct market research to proactively communicate industry trends as a member of the leadership team

Your Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years Transportation experience: Truck, Rail, Intermodal, freight forwarding & Translaod
  • Sound knowledge of the Alberta industry, marketplace, and key contacts of customers

· Intermodal/Truckload & Transload Account management and business development experience, possessing in depth knowledge of the features, benefits, and technical aspects of Intermodal/Truckload transportation as well as Transloading

  • Established customer contacts in the Alberta industry
  • Possess a proven track record in achieving and exceeding sales goals
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with exemplary work history & impeccable record of achievement
  • Demonstrated post secondary education in a transportation & logistics discipline
  • Strong organizational skills and complete fluency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated CRM experience & skills & discipline in its maintenance
  • Proficient communicator, skilled at establishing a strong rapport with Customers & key players
  • Confident, professional, and humble demeanor
  • History of being well-regarded by peers
  • Social Media savvy, experienced & fluent in use of multiple platforms, IE: LinkedIn. Instagram, Facebook, etc.
