Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability or Sustainable Business, or a related field, and five years of related experience in areas such as sustainability strategic planning, delivery and evaluation, implementation and resourcing of sustainability initiatives, consulting on a wide range of sustainability topics and communicating complex sustainability topics to a diverse set of stakeholders, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of sustainability issues and practices related to climate change, climate justice, circular economy, GHG reduction, energy management, water management, green buildings, transportation, waste management, food systems, natural areas and land use, fair trade, social infrastructure, social innovation, sustainable community development and natural capitalism.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in project management, program and project design and delivery, and fundraising.
  • Excellent knowledge of organizational culture and business development strategies in large organizations.
  • Excellent knowledge of historical and current issues and best practices in decolonization and reconciliation.
  • Excellent knowledge of historical and current issues and best practices in justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and good knowledge of intersectional anti-oppression frameworks.
  • Good knowledge of provincial, national environmental and global legislation (e.g., COP, the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets Act, Indian Act).
  • Good knowledge of sustainability rating systems and frameworks (e.g., AASHE STARS rating, Natural Step Framework).
  • Good understanding of the framing and strategic communication and education of sustainability issues.
  • Good knowledge of post-secondary institutional structure and culture in British Columbia and Canada.
  • Knowledge of public agency laws, regulation and targets related to sustainability in British Columbia and Canada.
  • Excellent team leadership, supervisory, human resource management, and financial management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral, written and presentation) and networking skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage large complex projects with multiple stakeholders and partners.
  • Ability to develop relationships and partnerships and to work collaboratively at all levels and areas within the organization.
  • Ability to exercise mature judgement, initiative, diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training workshops and presentations.
  • Ability to use standard office applications (e.g., MS Office).
  • Ability to arrange suitable transportation to various work locations.
