Job Summary

The Assistant Superintendentworks closely with the Project Superintendent, site operations team and subtrades to successfully complete our projects. With excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships and manage a variety of conflicting deadlines and priorities, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the success of major projects at Lark Group.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to the Superintendent in all areas of the project to ensure adherence to design, safety, risk, schedule and budget
  • Advise senior level supervision and Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc.
  • Monitor work performance and productivity of crafts to ensure project rules, procedures, safety requirements, etc. are maintained
  • Assist in planning work schedule, determining manpower levels, materials quantities, equipment, requirements, etc. are maintained, including field engineering and construction activities
  • Oversee total project supervision effort to ensure appropriate personnel, budget and schedule are met
  • Work with the construction & project teams in solving difficult construction or start-up problems
  • Ensure all company, department, and technical policies, procedures, standards, etc. are adhered to and interpret policies as required
  • In line with our core value SAFETY,assist with implementation, adherence and interpretation of safety programs
  • Assist in the development of supervision training programs
  • Lead and responsible for multiple new projects throughout the development process — including planning approvals, design development, and liaison during construction — by working with multi-disciplined consultant teams and various government authorities
  • Work with internal teams to pursue development opportunities, garner all necessary information and create solid action plans for development opportunities
  • Collaborate with the design team on proposals
  • Assemble, guide and mentor project design teams
  • Lead team to establish project pre-plans and objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy and contract requirements
  • Represent the company at meetings; participate in negotiations and strategy meetings, etc.
  • Interface directly with the clients and assist with developing their plans
  • Identify and manage project risk to ensure right first-time projects, every time
  • Develop strong working relationships with the Owner and Architect to ensure repeat business
  • Coach, manage and develop junior staff on projects with the goal to Elevate each team member to excel
  • Execute purchase orders, look ahead schedules, trade meetings and minutes, and implement Lark’s Quality Assurance/ Quality Control [AK1] program

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 6 years construction experience; minimum of 3 years in a supervisory capacity
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technical, equipment methods)
  • Must know and understand company policies, procedures and standards
  • Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory and planning skills required
  • Must be diligent and hardworking
