We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our Accounting Team. The successful candidate will assist in establishing budgets and forecasts, develop, monitor and evaluate processes and policies. This individual will have experience in system and process improvements, internal control, treasury management, and inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and consolidate accounting data, financial statements, reports, and variance analysis
  • Assist with the development and evaluation of budgets and preparing budget reports
  • Develop, review and update policies, technical accounting analyses, and procedures
  • Review and implement internal control systems and recommend changes where needed
  • Perform and maintain internal control and audit functions
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes to ensure deadlines are met
  • Provide regular account reconciliation to completion
  • Ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures
  • Manage automated and manual government filing processes for sales and other taxes (both Canada and United States)
  • Preparation and coordination of fiscal year-end audits
  • Provide support to other members of the accounting team in various related activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation required
  • 5 + years of relevant accounting experience
  • Experience with Microsoft GP
  • Experience in the financial services or e-commerce industries
  • Inventory management experience considered a plus
  • Strong technical, analytical, communication and presentation skills
