STATUS: 01 Full Time - Salaried

DESCRIPTION:
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Technical Services Acheson, the AMI System Technician performs maintenance, refurbishment, and verification of AMI System components, and associated warehousing activities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
  • Maintain, refurbish, and verify AMI System components.
  • Operate energized Meter Test Consoles, associated tools, and computer programs.
  • Ship, receive, return, salvage, track, and store AMI System material in the Service Centre in a safe and organized manner and process material transfers.
  • Perform duties in compliance with federal and provincial regulations, under the control of an ISO 9000 quality program (S-A-01).
  • Access information and maintain records in multiple applications, SAP, and AMI system environments.
  • Contribute as an efficient and effective team member.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement.
  • Operate Service Centre machinery, including forklifts, as required.
  • Accountable for the application of all safe work practices in a Service Centre environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in all work performed.
  • Experience with Revenue Metering, AMI Systems, meter test consoles, mapping, and computer systems.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Developed organizational and time management skills to manage multiple requests; this includes strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Willing to learn new skills and share learning with other employees.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships; this includes good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate computer system and data entry skills including experience using Excel.
  • Ability to work inside and outside in all weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • An Electrical Engineering Technology diploma, Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Power Line Technician, or a diploma in a related technical discipline is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle driver’s license is required.
  • Experience working in Geospatial Mapping would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in the electrical utility industry would be considered an asset.
ISO 9001 certification would be an asset.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
  • This has been identified as a safety-sensitive position. All successful candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Physically capable of safely lifting heavy objects up to 35KG.
