Description

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Accounting and Taxation, the Advisor actively participates in corporate accounting activities and tax-related projects.

Responsibilities

Company taxation (income tax and other specific regulations):
  • Produces the information contained in the auditing files used for various authorities;
  • Prepares files detailing the company’s position;
  • Conducts the initial negotiations with representatives from various governments;
  • Issues monthly and quarterly remittances and processes their accounting;
  • Coordinates work regarding the provisions for taxation and the annual tax return with external advisors;
  • Analyzes tax developments that impact the company and trains colleagues, where applicable.
Financial Reporting Under Public Accounting Standards And Special Projects
  • Coordinates the company’s financial reporting requirements according to public accounting standards;
  • Acts as a resource person for the Office of the Comptroller General regarding public accounting standards;
  • Participates in a variety of special files.
Lease And Major Contract Analysis Under IFRS 16
  • Analyzes the completeness of new contracts earmarked for analysis;
  • Analyzes and documents the accounting processing for the company’s contracts;
  • Assists in the documentation of the company’s implicit borrowing rate for IFRS 16-related purposes with help from external advisors.
Analyzing risks for supplier financial statements during bids, monitoring financial ratios for certain suppliers:
  • Conducts a detailed analysis of supplier financial statements;
  • Calculates financial ratios for comparison with industry ratios and those of other bidding suppliers;
  • Advises procurement officers when drafting comments and recommendations surrounding the identified risks, additional documents required and financial risk mitigation measures.
Participation when drafting certain notes on the annual financial statements in support of the Senior Accountant:
  • Conducts technical research to identify the required information;
  • Analyzes financial statements from other companies for reference;
  • Drafts the initial note version and calculates the relevant financial data.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in business administration or finance;
  • CPA designation (Certified Public Accountant);
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience;
  • Relevant experience in taxation and corporate accounting for large companies;
  • Excellent command of the Microsoft Office suite.
