What you will be doing…

As part of the Akerley Campus, the Administrative Assistant will report to the Academic Chair - School of Access, Education and Language and will provide confidential, day-to-day administrative and organizational support to the Academic Chair.

The Administrative Assistant will provide a full range of administrative support services. Your responsibilities will also include managing the day-to-day administrative and supportive functions, activities, and programs of the office. This entails logistical planning for meetings, program scheduling, calendar management, record keeping and file management, project management support, managing and organizing data, fielding queries to the SAEL in relation to programs, greeting students and booking appointments with the Academic Chair or directing to the appropriate person, coordinating special events and liaising with the internal and external communities, as well as other related administrative duties to support, as required.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimal educational qualifications for this position are a post-secondary certificate or diploma in business or office administration. The equivalency of a high school diploma with significant years of administrative experience (10+) will also be considered.
  • You have a minimum of three years of recent and related occupational experience in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Occupational experience that includes managing budgets would be considered an asset.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, E-mail, etc… Knowledge of PeopleSoft, SharePoint and Learning Management Systems such as Brightspace would be considered an asset
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology, and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
  • Occupational experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students in a post-secondary educational environment would be considered an asset
