Start cooking up an exciting career and be a key team member in our kitchen at Casino Nanaimo. We’re on the lookout for a creative and passionate part-time 3rdCook to join our team! Jump on the line in one of our kitchens to create culinary fare for guests. You’ll be responsible for the preparation of food items while adhering to safety, hygiene policies and procedures. The culinary management team believes in an open-door policy, where all ideas and suggestions are welcome, in the continual quest for culinary excellence.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist culinary team
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of all aspects of
    culinary
  • Clean and organize all related work equipment and areas
  • Prepare and stock for daily operation
  • Butcher meats and poultry
  • Basic soup and sauce preparation
  • Basic dessert preparation
  • Able to cut, slice, chop and peel vegetables and fruits
  • Prepare food to quality and presentation standards while ensuring all guidelines and recipes are met
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Adhere to all policies as they relate to functions of the position.
  • Maintain and encourage a respectful workplace
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum two years experience in a volume restaurant and/or banquet experience
  • Valid Food Safe Certificate (Level 1)
  • Able to read, understand and follow recipes
  • Ability to successfully obtain a Criminal Record and Credit Check
  • Professional, results driven individual with a positive attitude
  • Must be a team player who works well with others and the ability to work unsupervised
  • Dependable and reliable with a
    demonstrated commitment to service
    excellence
  • Must be available to work all shifts including days, nights, weekends and statutory
    holidays.
  • Able to lift up to 70 pounds.
