My client is a growing consumer products company located in Brampton seeking a costing analyst to provide support to their local plant operation.

Your new role

The Costing Analyst reports to the controller and is responsible for providing analytical support to plant management. The Costing Analyst works on the accurate costing for raw materials, dry goods, WIP, and finished goods, including BOM’s, routings, labour rates and intercompany pricing. The Costing Analyst will prepare, review and analyze daily, weekly and monthly operational reports including yields, labour efficiency, utilities, expenses and capital spend. The Costing Analyst will partner with plant management to identify opportunities for improvements. The Costing Analyst reconciles and analyses all manufacturing and purchase price variances. The Costing Analyst manages the CAPEX process ensuring accurate project tracking and timely capitalization. The position will prepare applicable journal entries and balanced sheet reconciliations. The position will support physical inventory counts, interim and year end financial audits as required.

What you’ll need to succeed

You will have 2-3+ years costing experience in a manufacturing operation, with exposure to BOM, inventory and standard costing practices. The ability to work well with operational teams and enjoy being on the shop floor are essential to your success in this highly interactive position. You will possess an outgoing personality able to comfortably build working relationships with people at all levels in the operation. Advanced Excel skills are required, combined with strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Either working towards or completion of a CPA designation is considered and asset, but not required.
