CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT ENGINEER - JOB DESCRIPTION

Role Objectives and Responsibilities:

Engineering Drawings and Bill of Materials

  • Ensure the Bill of Materials (BOM) are properly structured and indented in accordance with their subassemblies,
  • Provide Manufacturing with the documents (BOMs, Cut Lists, Drawings, etc.) to consistently produce products with the same parts and components.
  • For the life of each product, maintain a high level of data integrity of the Engineering Drawings and BOM and ensure they are aligned with actual production processes.
  • Lead and support the complete lifecycle of the Engineering Drawing and BoM development and updates, which includes: o Support Corporate Systems for the implementation of the data into the Enterprise

Resource Planning (ERP) System, o Support Manufacturing during the final verification process against the as-built products.

To Support the prototype process with preliminary Engineering Drwings and BoMs for prototype material requisitioning and creation. Ensure BOMs accurately capture the components and subassemblies of the final product design. o Ensure Manufacturing personnel adhere to the information provided by BoMs and
Manufacturing/Fabrication Drawings.

CNC Machine Programming and Fabrication Drawings

  • Develop and maintain accurate Fabrication Drawings of the manufactured parts or extrusions that require specific machining locations.
  • Program all CNC Machines for all required extrusion machine fabrication.
  • Ensure the programming accurately captures the dimensions and location defined in the

Fabrication Drawings.

Thermal Modelling and Evaluation

  • Support the Quality and Regulatory Compliance team in developing documentation to ensure

Lux products meet changing North American Fenestration Standards (NAFS) codes requirements.

  • Conduct thermal modelling and analysis to ensure our products are in compliance with regulatory parameters.
  • Provide practical, cost-effective design solutions to improve thermal performance, if required.

Non-Standard Window/Door Combination Drawings

  • Support Sales, Renovation, and the Service Departments in the development of product drawings that accurately illustrate Non-Standard Window and Doors Combinations.
  • Adhere to the development process and timeline of these Non-Standard Product Drawings.

Engineering Change Notices

  • Support the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) processes, provide timely feedback on queries and update drawings on approved ECNs, as required.
  • Adhere to the current process in the execution and resolution of ECNs.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial).
  • Able to become a member of APEGA with P. Eng. Status.
  • 5+ years directly related experience to the functional areas under consideration.
  • Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Good understanding of R&D, Product Data Configuration/Management, Industrial Engineering and Quality Management.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Inventor and Microsoft Suite.
  • Strong sense of urgency, organization, and accountability.
  • Self-motivated and self-starting disposition.
  • Good communication skills (oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills).
