Job Description

What you can expect in a typical day:

As a Compensation Specialist with Irving Oil, you will contribute to design, implementation and administration of Compensation related programs and processes across the organization. You will serve as a trusted advisor on compensation programs ensuring a consistent approach on compensation practices across the organization.

What You’ll Need To Succeed
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis for the design, development, governance, and implementation of compensation programs. This may include, and is not limited to, annual salary budget modelling and costing, compensation structure management and benchmarking, and incentive program management
  • Lead annual compensation processes including developing the approach and project plan, system testing, executing the plan while engaging and collaborating with appropriate stakeholders, managing communication requirements and conducting post-process trouble-shooting and lessons learned.
  • Lead HRIS (Workday) related requirements including development of annual compensation roadmap; design, project planning, configuration and maintenance of new and existing compensation processes and structures; bi-annual upgrades building/amending test scripts, assessing changes in the upgrade for impact on compensation processes, performing required testing, managing defects and meeting upgrade and other project timelines
  • Manage third party survey participation, selection and benchmarking to maintain competitive compensation structures aligned with company philosophy.
  • Engage with multiple stakeholders to enhance the incentive program governance including metric development, data validation, and program execution and audit.
  • Develop recommendations and draft compensation policies, practices and standards through conducting related research, analysis, stakeholder requirement.
  • Conduct market research for regulatory compliance items and benchmarking.

Travel
  • Travel is not a requirement for this role
Education And Experience
  • Post-secondary education in Business and/or Human Resources.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in compensation management and/or financial reporting and analysis.
  • Professional designations such as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) an asset.
  • Exposure to and general understanding of Sales Compensation an asset.
  • Experience with solution development, project planning and execution
