The Opportunity:
We are looking to fill 2 positions for Community Space Creation Agents across the province to support the creation of preschool spaces in a designated facility.

As part of the Early Learning Canada Wide Agreement Action Plan, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is dedicated to achieving the goals outlined in the action plan to increase designated childcare spaces by 2026. What you will do:
The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting the assessment processes related to the creation of childcare preschool spaces, guiding and supporting those interested in opening new Early Learning and Child Care facilities or preschool spaces as well as building partnerships to understand the community needs and economic profile.

  • Participate in the annual review of the space creation allocation grid to prioritize spaces for calls for proposals.
  • Planning and validation of proposals received with central office and follow-up with applicants.
  • Planning the evaluation process for applicants following the call for proposals.
  • Planning schedules and resources for the evaluation committee for the call for proposals.
  • Participating in evaluation meetings and documenting decision-making by the evaluation committee members.
  • Accompanying successful applicants from the Call for Proposals through the application process within the community.
  • Provide resource to successful applicants of resources in regards of governance, administration, project planning and acts and regulations.
  • Identify common barriers or challenges in the school district related to the creation or maintenance of spaces.
  • Collaborate to the implementation of new models of service delivery of child care in communities.
  • Support the reallocation of designated seats within a community.
  • Discuss with communities to promote the value of creating spaces in the case of non-takers during the call for proposals.
  • Partner with stakeholders in the target community to open designated spaces.
  • Support the implementation of Policy 901, regulations and processes related to the Space creation Strategy.
  • Participate in the review and development of policies, resources and documentation surrounding placemaking and licensing.
  • Plan and participate in stakeholder engagement and relationship management with the Early learning and child care sector, municipalities and parents.
  • Participate in planning meetings.
  • Data collection, analysis and follow-up.
  • Provide customer service to the sector, parents and the community of space creation.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have:

  • Post secondary education in Business Administration or Social Sciences, combined with demonstrated work experience in a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. For example,
    • Community College and 5 years of related experience or
    • University and 3 years of related experience or
    • Seven years of related experience.
  • Dedication to improving the NB Early Learning and Childcare System.

We are looking to fill two positions; one requires a high level of French oral and written competencies and the other requires a high level of English oral and written competencies.

  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30
