Reporting to the Communications Team Lead, the Communications Coordinator will execute and support Sustainability, Communications & Marketing Department activities as included in the annual strategic plans.

KEY FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITIES

· Develop a strong understanding of ABCRC’s services and communication requirements.

· Provide support to departmental Team Leads and Director.

· Support day-to day departmental activities.

· Coordinate corporate programs and special projects as assigned.

· Manage internal and external communications as needed, including (but not limited to) reporting, corporate intranet, internal e-mails, external engagement tools and social media.

· Assist with the development of communications, including (but not limited to) researching, drafting, proofreading and distributing.

· Assist with the planning, organization, and execution of corporate events.

· Capture on-site activities and events (photographs and good news stories) that effectively describe and promote ABCRC’s initiatives and programs.

· Assist with the management of the corporate Documentation Management System (DMS).

· Assist with the submission of departmental invoices to Accounts Payable.

· Perform all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

The Communications Coordinator requires an undergraduate degree in marketing, communication, Technical Writing or a related area.

EXPERIENCE

The Communications Coordinator must have a minimum of 2 years experience in a related communications capacity (some volunteer or co-op experience may be applicable).

· Is proficient in Microsoft Word, including detailed knowledge of styles, templates and exporting to PDF.

· Has knowledge of (or the ability to quickly learn) a variety of Microsoft and Adobe products. Ability to use web-based apps, design tools, and some design experience will be considered an asset.

· Employs creative problem-solving and conflict management skills; embraces change with confidence.

· Able to prioritize (and re-prioritize) workload, practice time management, manage projects and handle multiple responsibilities while meeting tight deadlines.

· Is a self-starter and shows initiative, with a creative mind and an ability to put ideas into practice.

· Has the ability to act with discretion and treat confidential information appropriately.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Regular hours at a desk, using office equipment and attending meetings. Occasional lifting of supplies and materials.

Manage multiple priorities and tasks and may experience interruptions. The position requires excellent organizational and time management skills, and precise attention to detail.

Gain a good understanding of departmental requirements with an appreciation of diverse internal and external stakeholder interests.

There is not a significant requirement for travel. Occasional travel would be on an “as required” basis, as approved by the Communications Team Lead.
