Hiring Unit: University Advancement, Communications
Supervisor: Associate Director, Communications
Salary: $16.50 per hour
Classification: Classification B
Start and end date of employment: November 27, 2023 to March 15, 2023
Estimated hours of work per week: 33.75 hours/week
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.
This position is to cover a temporary temporary peak in workload in the above-mentioned unit.
POSITION COVERED BY AMUSE-PSAC BARGAINING UNIT
Under the direction of the Associate Director, Communications, the Communications Assistant - Digital will play a role in implementing web and e-mail digital strategies. In collaboration with the Digital Communications Officer-Web and the Digital Communications Officer – Email, the incumbent will assist both in achieving marketing and communications objectives using digital tools and technologies.
  • Assist with the migration of the McGill News website to a new content management system; ensure all images and copy are aligned with updated standards.
  • Performs daily updates and testing on the Campaign/Giving website.
  • Provides technical support such as web edits for the Alumni website.
  • Provides daily broadcast management support and support with email campaigns.
  • Compiles and updates training manual and resources as required for iModules training materials.
  • Provides basic technical customer support on email broadcasts for UA units and faculties.
  • Perform other related responsibilities as required.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic HTML and CSS.
  • Experience with website management systems, such as WordPress.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of responsive design, in addition to best practices in usability and accessibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work autonomously and to interact and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic HTML and CSS.
  • Experience with website management systems, such as WordPress and Drupal.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of responsive design, in addition to best practices in usability and accessibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work autonomously and to interact and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English. French spoken and written. Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
