Role Summary

The Communications Advisor, reporting to the Communications Manager, plays a pivotal role in the communications team. Responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing communication strategies, the Advisor ensures effective internal and external communication to raise awareness of HHB’s initiatives and enhance public perception. Strategic analysis, content creation, and alignment with organizational goals are central to this role.

Responsibilities

Strategic Communication

  • Identify and anticipate emerging issues, providing proactive strategies to mitigate potential challenges
  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans, aligning with HHB’s mission and objectives
  • Lead website content development, ensuring timely and relevant information dissemination.
  • Provide strategic guidance for internal and external communication on major projects, including IT and engineering initiatives
  • Conduct public perception risk analysis for key projects, advising HHB executives and the Board accordingly
  • Advocate for digital accessibility across all HHB platforms


External Communication

  • Analyze past communication campaigns to inform future strategies
  • Create branded external materials using graphic design software
  • Oversee social media presence, including contractor management and brand refresh
  • Coordinate HHB-sponsored events and develop content for various external platforms


Internal Communication

  • Collaborate with senior staff to enhance existing communication tools
  • Manage operational procedures for platform integration, including staff training
  • Lead brand initiatives for major projects, ensuring consistent messaging
  • Implement internal communication strategies to enhance employee engagement
  • Distribute executive messages and organize employee engagement events


Media Relations

  • Serve as the organization’s spokesperson when necessary
  • Draft media advisories and releases
  • Represent HHB to stakeholders and the media, fostering positive relationships
  • Coordinate media events and manage media inquiries effectively


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, or related field
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in writing and editing for various mediums
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience with digital platforms and social media management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
