In Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA, our Anode Materials division manufactures our synthetic graphite anode materials used to make lithium-ion batteries which power electric vehicles, personal electronics, medical devices, energy storage units, and more.

Role Summary:

This person will report directly to the Cell Line Manager and will be primarily responsible for blending slurries, coating, compressing, and preparing electrodes to support lithium-ion battery research work for NOVONIX and our international customers. The work also includes building battery sub-assemblies and cells of various designs for the evaluation of advanced battery materials. Our pilot scale cell line makes use of manual and semi-automated equipment. In the role of Cell Technician – Coating, you will be joining a world-class R&D Services team that is delivering innovative solutions to tough problems.

Responsibilities include:

• Blending slurries
• Coating, compressing, and preparing electrodes for coin cell building
• Building and testing coin cells to evaluate material performance
• Building battery sub-assemblies and cells of various designs for evaluation of advanced battery materials for customers and for internal purposes using manual and semi-automated equipment.
• Organizing battery materials and work in process
• Measuring and recording in-process battery assembly-related quality information
• Working closely with researchers on various internal and customer-driven projects
• Documentation of cell-making procedures
• Documentation of cell-building records

• Experienced with the operation and maintenance of automated equipment
• Well organized and super attentive to the details
• A highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative
• A problem solver
• Always open to learning new things and bringing forward ideas of how do improve what we do and how we do it
• Confident and able to exercise sound judgment
• Collaborative

Extra awesome if you also have:

• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing pumps, mechanical drive systems, etc.
