Job title: Candidate to the engineering profession (CEP) or technician in Automation, Instrumentation and Contr

Description

To better support project and client development in the Labrador City area, you will work in our multidisciplinary office, which has been operating there for over 12 years, and will be part of a team of professionals committed to the success of our mandates. You will develop an in-depth understanding of industrial operational realities and will be able to fast-track your career.

The existing team, which works closely with our offices in the greater Montréal area, Québec City and Vancouver, is actively involved in developing the region and in carrying out various projects in the mining and metals, and energy sectors.

As such, the firm is looking for a candidate to fill the position of Junior Automation Engineer (or Technician), or a candidate to the engineering profession (CEP). Since the office is located close to our clients, you will have various opportunities to perform site surveys, provide technical support to local clients, participate in commissioning new equipment and systems, and work on small and large projects. Additionally, you will benefit from BBA’s network of recognized experts to support you in completing mandates and in your professional development.

You will have the opportunity to choose a permanent position or a temporary assignment (at least two years) at the Labrador City office, followed by a return to our offices in the Greater Montréal area.

More concretely, by joining our team, you’ll be required to:

  • Be an integral part of an Automation team and work with other disciplines and drafters to complete mandates.
  • Prepare plans and specifications as well as detailed engineering deliverables (piping and instrumentation diagrams, location drawings, I/O, loop and motor control diagrams, lists of cables and instruments, installation details).
  • Draft reports, plans and specifications, construction and purchasing specifications, and calls for tenders.
  • Prepare technical data sheets and select instruments (flow, pressure, level) and control valves.
  • Help with programming (PLCs, operator interfaces).
  • Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with clients.
  • Listen to clients and meet their high expectations.
  • Perform onsite technical information surveys.
  • Assist more experienced staff with the technical aspects of more complex tasks.
  • Participate in onsite technical audits.
  • Help supervise the work and commissioning of the designed systems.
  • Help prepare proposals.
  • Participate in various project phases, from studies and detailed engineering to site support and commissioning.

Requirements

  • University degree or technical diploma in Automated Production engineering or Electrical engineering and a member of a professional association (OIQ, PEGNL, etc.)
  • Three years or less of experience
  • ASP Construction card
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite, like Excel, and other applications, databases and interfaces
  • Experience in instrumentation and control design
  • Experience in programming Rockwell control systems (PLC, HMI, VFD)
  • I nterest or relevant experience in automation and instrumentation
  • Asset: participation in detailed engineering of a project in the mining or energy sectors
  • Asset: bilingual (English and French)
