In the role of Buyer at Copperstone you will report to the General Manager. You will have 3 to 4 years of relevant experience. Your key responsibility is to support the Production and Engineering teams as they develop, build and analyze our HELIX robotic products. You will bring previous experience in Purchasing, Inventory Management, and Logistics. You will work collaboratively with other team members and technical staff.

The Buyer is responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted supply of materials for production orders, while driving continuous cost and process improvements.

Responsibilities will include:

● Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing, volume discounts, terms, and delivery schedules

● Maintain compliance with Purchasing and QA policies and procedures

● Create purchase orders and/or place orders as necessary for industrial electrical, instrumentation and production materials, components and equipment for stock and special orders as required by the production schedule

● Manage purchase orders from the point of creation through to receiving

● Track orders and ensure timely delivery of materials and components, expediting when required

● Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, and inventory levels

● Proactively monitor and resolve potential material misses and track, expedite, critical orders

● Action and resolve supply chain issues including commercial competitiveness, on time delivery, NCR issues and supplier concerns, in a timely manner

● Address and ensure quality requirements with suppliers

● Identify supply shortfalls and communicate these gaps along with a contingency plan to managers and internal customers

● Investigate part substitutions to present to Engineering or Sales in order to optimize inventory and minimize or reduce delivery time

● Adjust purchasing strategies based on material availability

● Provide purchasing plan and control information by collecting and analyzing data and trends

● Determine adequate inventory levels for operations, establish minimum and maximum levels, evaluate, and adjust as required to satisfy demand based on production, demand, market trends, stock turns, shelf-life constraints and on time delivery, to suit business requirements

● Monitor inventory stock levels and coordinate with the production team to replenish inventory as needed

● Forecast future product requirements

● Provide Quotations to Sales/Estimating as required

● Build, and maintain, relationships with key external logistics service providers for local and international shipments/deliveries and freight rates management – ocean, air, road

● Transport planning as per Sales and Customer Service requirements

● Shipment handling and tracking

● Perform occasional pick-ups and deliveries

● Perform other duties and responsibilities as required

Safety and Compliance

● Maintain a “safety first” attitude in all aspects of your work and lead by example.

Preferred candidates will possess a combination of the following:

● 3 to 4 years purchasing experience required

● Diploma in Supply Chain or Purchasing. Completion of SCMP, PMAC or other equivalent courses and associated certifications would be considered an asset

● Analytical, results-oriented, and productive in a fast-paced environment as this person will be responsible for making tactical and strategic decisions to ensure customer satisfaction while bettering our inventory performance

● Strong organizational skills; good communication, strong attention to detail, excellent time management, diligent electronic file management skills

● Ability to collaborate and work in a strong team environment

● Excellent computer skills

● Strong Google software experience, specifically Sheets and Docs

● Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract

● Physical capability of lifting/carrying up to 50lbs

● Ability to pass background check and pre-employment testing

● Must be proficient in English with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written

● Project management and leadership skills are strongly preferred

● Experience in Logistics would be considered an asset

  • Class 5 Licence (required)
