ORGANIZATION:The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Centre with innovative, low barrier approach to healthcare delivery in clinical practice and an integrated group of research concentrations in Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Trials, Population Health and Epidemiology, Health Economics and Professional Education Programs. A multidisciplinary team of clinicians including Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers and Peers and researchers including Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Clinical Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, and Data Analysts work collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socio-economic barriers in accessing healthcare through the development, ongoing monitoring and dissemination of comprehensive research and treatment programs for HIV and related diseases.

ROLE: The Business Analyst and Project Support, reporting to the Head of Health Information Management and Assistant Director of Epidemiology and Population Health at BC-CfE, leads the analysis of business requirements, collaborates with stakeholders to enhance systems and processes, and performs gap analysis and business process mapping.

Contribute to strategic planning and develop business solutions for accurate and timely project deliverables. Develop project plans for new processes and support system integration

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Requirement Gathering and Analysis: Collaborating with stakeholders to identify and document business requirements, conducting interviews, workshops, and meetings to understand user needs, and analyzing gathered information to define project scope and objectives.
  • Business Process Analysis: Examining existing business processes, identifying areas for improvement or optimization, and recommending solutions to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Gap Analysis: Assessing the gaps between current and desired states, identifying areas where business processes or systems fall short, and proposing strategies to bridge those gaps.
  • Documentation and Communication: Creating clear and concise documentation of business requirements, process flows, use cases, and functional specifications to ensure a shared understanding among project stakeholders.
  • Solution Design and Evaluation: Collaborating with technical teams to design solutions that meet business requirements, evaluating potential solution options, and providing recommendations based on cost, feasibility, and alignment with business goals.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engaging with stakeholders, such as clients, end-users, and project managers, to understand their perspectives, address concerns, and ensure that the proposed solutions align with their needs.
  • Project Management Support: Assisting in project planning, monitoring project progress, and supporting project managers in tracking deliverables, managing risks, and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Change Management: Facilitating the transition from current processes/systems to new solutions, identifying and managing potential impacts on stakeholders, and assisting in the development of training and communication materials to support user adoption.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitoring and evaluating implemented solutions, identifying areas for further improvement, and providing recommendations for ongoing enhancements to optimize business processes and systems.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Conducting data analysis and generating reports to support decision-making and project progress tracking.
  • User Acceptance Testing: Conducting or supporting user acceptance testing to ensure developed solutions meet requirements.
  • Developing and supporting projects, programs and initiatives aimed at improving and supporting the Head of Health Information.
  • Performs other duties as required.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience

  • A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Health Information Management, or a related discipline, plus a minimum of five (5) years recent related experience which includes project planning, analysis and implementation.
  • Having experience and knowledge in the Public Service and Health Sector, specifically related to hospital or medical clinic workflows and electronic medical records, will be considered advantageous or beneficial

  • Problem-solving skills: be able to identify and resolve problems that arise during the project, including those related to data quality, data integrity, and data security.
  • Communication skills: should have strong communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders and team members, both verbally and in writing. This includes the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Technical skills: should have technical skills in areas such as data analysis, data visualization, and project management tools.
  • Teamwork and collaboration: should be able to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with others to achieve project goals.
  • Attention to detail: should have a strong attention to detail, ensuring that data is accurate and consistent, and that all project deliverables are of high quality.
  • Flexibility and adaptability: should be able to adapt to changing project requirements and timelines, and be flexible in their approach to problem-solving.
