Role:As an integral part of the Facility Operations Team, the Building Operator is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance of the building and the smooth operation of the facility.


Reports to: Director of Facility Operations & Services

What You’ll Do:

  • Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs of heating, cooling and ventilation systems, electrical, mechanical, plumbing systems, painting, drywall, lighting, roofing and tile repair
  • Respond to tenant service requests

  • Assist with risk management inspections, remedial actions and reporting
  • Ensure all work requests are completed in a timely manner
  • Responsible for learning pool operations and water chemistry
  • Responsible for housekeeping of mechanical areas
  • Act as safety and security personnel when required
  • Snow removal and de-icing of sidewalks
  • Troubleshoot and take corrective action to prevent equipment or system failures
  • Follow all safety requirements of the role as required
  • All other duties as assigned

What You Need:

  • Minimum 4th Class Power Engineer and 3+ years facility maintenance experience
  • Ability to work rotational shifts Monday – Sunday
  • Ability to participate in on call schedule
  • Swimming Pool Operator Level 1 would be an asset
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair various facility issues
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively and professionally, as well as both written and oral proficiency in English
  • Work safely in a team, and independently
  • Follow through on assigned tasks, as well as initiate tasks
  • Able to develop and sustain positive cooperative working relationships with tenants, internal staff, contractors, suppliers and the public
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job including standing for an extended period of time, walking, lifting, grasping and performing repetitive motions, sometimes in confined spaces or small areas
