Responsibilities

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Maintenance and Operations, the Controls Technician performs a variety of skilled tasks required for the maintenance, upgrading and renovations of HVAC systems and equipment within the central zone hospitals. This position is based at the Dartmouth General Hospital and provides support to NS Hospital and other sites as required.

Qualifications
  • Grade XII plus Certified Journeyman or a graduate of an Industrial Instrumentation course, or Mechanical or Electrical Technology course.
  • Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license is required.
  • Journeyman Electrician with controls experience would also be considered.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in HVAC Control preferred.
  • Knowledge of air balancing techniques and methods is required.
  • Commercial and/or Industrial Controls experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of all HVAC systems and pneumatic and electronic control systems, devices and programming.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Customer focused.
  • Demonstrates collaboration & teamwork.
  • Travel to other sites may be required and must have access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Hours of Work

Permanent Full-Time position, 75 hours bi-weekly.

Salary Information

$25.72 - $30.62 hourly

This position is currently eligible for a market adjustment of $4,436.00 annually ($170.62 bi-weekly). Eligibility for this market adjustment is reviewed periodically.
