Description:
• The Battery Electrical Design Engineer - Intermediate for high voltage battery hardware and integration is responsible for the end to end management of the electrical design and production release of the battery pack assembly electromechanical systems and related activities relative to electrical architecture, wiring, PCB’s and busbars.
• This person will work closely with the battery pack electrical technical specialist, electrical component engineers and lead design release engineer to ensure all requirements are met and properly validated, both via simulations and through empirical testing for BSG, PHEV, and BEV vehicles released for global markets.
• Designs will comply and be provided in support of the Global Vehicle Safety and Compliance teams in all regions throughout APAC, EMEA, LATAM, and USMCA (including Mexico and Canada).
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Develop program HVBS concepts that satisfy vehicle level functional objectives
• Coordinate ePT HVBS packaging activities with advanced concept engineering team.
• Execute programs through PDP that meet or exceed objectives for performance, cost, weight, investment, and quality.
• Develop and publish HVBS performance standards.
• Develop system level DVP and coordinate component level DVP with Tier 1 supplier.
• Execute design for manufacturing process and coordinate assembly process with manufacturing engineering.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field from an ABET accredited/equivalent university.
• Minimum of 3 years in product engineering electrical design, development and/or testing
• Ability to analyze circuits, busbars, wiring, logic diagrams, and other related items to the high voltage battery pack assembly.
• Lead development of technical specifications and engineering designs for the battery electrical system and related components contained within Battery disconnect and Electrical busbar assemblies including:
o Fuses and contactors
o High voltage bus bars
o Thermal fuses and other circuit protection devices
o Wiring, terminal, and connectors
o Laser welding, ultrasonic welding, soldering, crimping, and orbital riveting
o Contactors, circuit breakers, and other pyro disconnect circuits
o Labels
o Battery and module assemblies
o PCB including battery management systems, cell supervisory circuits, etc
• Demonstrated experience source packages, specifications, DFMEA and DVP&R through the complete product cycle (from sourcing approval to serial production)
• Provide technical support for electrical/electronics testing including circuit fatigue, EMI, RFI, etc
• Experience in problem solving
• Strong technical research and writing skills
• Self-starter
• Google Suite Experience
• Strong Presentation Skills
Preferred Requirements:
• Master’s degree in Engineering or Business, as accredited by ABET or ABET equivalent.
• Experience in the full product life cycle design and release experience
• Reactive and/or DFSS black belt
• Experience with competitive benchmarking assessment preferably using A2MAC1
