Roles & Responsibilities:

As an Automated Traffic Enforcement Community Peace Officer II appointed for the City of Grande Prairie, you will:

  • Operate Automated Traffic Enforcement equipment.
  • Adhere to the Alberta Automated Traffic Enforcement Technology Guideline.
  • Handle uploads, notes, and reviews related to enforcement activities with the upmost attention to detail.
  • Attend court proceedings as a witness when required.
  • Fulfill other duties as required.

Qualifications:

We’re looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Education:Must be a grade 12 graduate or equivalent.
  • Peace Officer Appointment: Must meet all requirements of Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services to obtain a Community Peace Officer II appointment to conduct photo enforcement of traffic laws.
  • Technology Savvy: Ability to learn and adapt to the technology used which includes, laser speed detection, digital photography, and basic computing skills.
  • Good Driving Record: Must be free of convictions for distracted driving, impaired driving and be collision free for a minimum of three years as supported by required documentation.
  • Attention to Detail: Superior attention to detail to all work-related activities and documentation is required.

Our Ideal Candidate:

Our ideal candidate possesses the following qualities:

  • Law Enforcement Experience: Preference will be given to applicants with law enforcement experience (including Traffic/Police experience or equivalences).
  • Independence: Able to work independently and conduct themselves in a mature and professional manner.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial for success in this role.

Work Conditions:

  • This position is required to work a variety of shifts, which include days, evenings, and weekends.
  • This position works 10hr shifts and an average of 40hrs/week

Location: Grande Prairie

**This role requires the individual to live in the greater Grande Prairie area.


Conditions of Employment:

  • Successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Successful applicant will be required to provide a clean drivers abstract and claims experience history to the satisfaction of our insurance carrier to provide coverage.
