We are currently growing our Cell Chemistry team and searching for a talented Associate Scientist. The responsibilities will be split between managing aspects of research projects for others in Cell Chemistry and conducting your own research projects as a Scientist. This position will allow the successful candidate to be involved in a broader range of Cell Chemistry work, including synthesis, formulation, characterization, and method development. This role is best suited for a candidate with significant familiarity in the field of Li-ion batteries.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform laboratory work and experiments to investigate battery problems or improvements, as discussed with Managers and with support and guidance from other Scientists.
  • Reliable and critical analysis and interpretation of data. Utilize new ways to look deeper into issues faced in the deployment of new chemicals and the implementation of new methods.
  • Prepare and give formal presentations of work to the broader research team and management regularly.
  • Maintain schedules for supplier interactions and plan work proactively to meet our responsibilities to those partners.
  • Ensure that non-disclosure agreements are valid for current chemical suppliers.
  • Assist in the acquisition and installation of new R&D instruments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or a relevant Engineering field with a strong understanding of lithium-ion batteries.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Li-ion manufacturing environment and/or industry experience in Li-ion battery materials or Li-ion battery end users is preferred.
  • A creative thinker who will contribute new and interesting techniques to advance company research.
  • Skilled in data presentation, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Ability to communicate project needs, challenges, decisions, and proposed solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to both collaborate and direct people with varying backgrounds and levels of expertise.
  • Advanced knowledge and technical abilities on a variety of lab instruments and equipment.
