Reporting to the Associate Registrar – Admission Services, the Assistant Registrar – International Recruitment and Admission is responsible for providing University-wide strategic and operational expertise and leadership in the context of international undergraduate recruitment, admission, and conversion. The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of the management and administration of international recruitment and admission to Undergraduate Degree Programs at the University of Guelph. The Assistant Registrar plays a crucial role in ensuring the University reaches its institutional internationalization, enrolment, and revenue generation goals.

The Assistant Registrar provides leadership and guidance for the research, development, planning and implementation of innovative international recruitment, admission and conversion strategies, policies and initiatives that will enable growth through a strong annual enrolment funnel of committed and well-qualified undergraduate international applicants from diverse education systems.

The Assistant Registrar will provide leadership and supervision to professional and support staff in a multi-faceted, time-sensitive environment; counsel current and prospective international students; and provide University-wide strategic and operational counsel and expertise by fostering relationships and collaboration with key internal stakeholders, in the context of undergraduate international recruitment, admission, conversion and transition,

The incumbent will be responsible for manually adjudicating a percentage of international, semester one applications; reviewing and maintaining integrated information, CRM and admission systems; representing the University to all internal and external stakeholders related to international undergraduate recruitment, admission and conversion, and participating in related committees; reviewing and analysing data; monitoring and responding to changes and trends within the secondary and post-secondary international landscape; supporting the development and execution of international-related marketing and communications, and participating in recruitment events and initiatives on- and off-campus, including international recruitment and conversion travel as required.

Requirements of the position include:

  • A master’s degree with several years of progressive and demonstrated experience in post-secondary recruitment and admission in an international context, or other related/relevant administrative experience in a university setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, admissions, and national and international educational systems, along with experience in international admission adjudication;
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced, deadline-driven, complex environment, while providing the highest level of detail and accuracy, is essential;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking ability;
  • Exceptional leadership, management, interpersonal and networking skills;
  • Proven supervisory experience and ability to hire, train and motivate staff is essential;
  • Strategic planning, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
  • Professional judgement, tact, diplomacy;
  • Flexibility and ability to act independently;
  • Strong technological skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, student information systems (SIS) and customer relationship management (CRM);
  • Experience working with Colleague is an asset;
  • Experience working with Slate is an asset;
  • Experience in an electronic workflow and document imaging environment is an asset;
  • A valid passport, and full G - Ontario driver’s license are required;
  • Must be able to travel internationally for up to 2 weeks at a time and work non-traditional hours.
