Job Overview
The Assistant Fitness Director is a key leadership position at The Boulevard Club. Under the direction of the Fitness Director, this person will manage, develop and implement fitness and wellness initiatives to all members and guests of The Boulevard Club. The Assistant Fitness Director will embrace and engage the membership to ensure that the needs, desires, and expectations of The Boulevard Club members are consistently exceeded.
Specific duties would include, but are not limited to:
  • Work closely with the Fitness Director to oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations of the boulevard club Fitness Center and Fitness studios.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, training of fitness floor coaches, group fitness instructors and personal training staff.
  • Work with Membership team to implement new member integration process. Schedule and deliver new member orientations as needed.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of program progress with all digital and virtual group fitness classes.
  • Oversee the group fitness class schedule (hiring, planning and implementation).
  • Increase Personal Training revenue and profitability through managing sales performance, sessions serviced, growth, and quality of personal training experience.
  • Address member and guest complaints and concerns.
  • Ensure all classes are covered and facilitate sub procedures to all instructors. Report class tracking numbers on a bi-weekly basis to fitness director.
  • Submit bi-weekly group fitness instructor and personal training payroll and invoicing to the fitness director in a timely manner.
  • Provide seasonal inventory of all group fitness equipment to fitness director.
  • Using Jonas and Gametime Club software, provide daily, weekly, and as needed reports to the fitness director to track trends and needs.
  • Provide leadership, support, motivation, and correction for fitness staff, with cross training for all departments as necessary.
  • Participate in departmental and club training, staff meetings ensuring staff compliance with same, supervisory conferences, committees, and special events.
  • Develop innovative and creative member fitness programs, workshops and events.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in kinesiology or other health science or hospitality program.
  • Minimum 3 years of proven success in health and fitness operations with responsibility of staff supervision and facility management.
  • Prior experience in personal training and/or group fitness required. experience in sales and management preferred.
  • Current CPR/AED and at least one nationally recognized personal training and group fitness certification(s).
  • Current group fitness certification required. Experience in teaching yoga, Pilates, HIIT, spinning and muscle conditioning an asset.
  • Advanced computer literacy (word, excel, PowerPoint, email); working knowledge of Jonas and/or Gametime preferred. Proficiency in Canva or other marketing software an asset.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position with regard to lifting supplies and gym equipment potentially in excesses of 50lbs.
  • Must have excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills and must be able to interact with all levels of guests in a professional and cordial manner.
  • Experience in conducting and producing online virtual classes via zoom. Comfortable with teaching and training both in person and online.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational/problem solving skills. Must be self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Flexible shift availability including evenings, weekends and holidays.
