Job Summary

Summer Articling Student

The British Columbia Ministry of Attorney General offers interesting and varied articles at its Crown Counsel offices around the province. The BC Prosecution Service will be interviewing soon for temporary summer articled student positions starting in May 2024. Further information about the Articled Student Program is available at: Articled Student Program - Province of British Columbia (gov.bc.ca).

Under the guidance of Crown Counsel, students work on files relating to criminal prosecutions.

There are six summer student positions that will lead to articles for 2025/2026, subject to satisfactory performance during the summer 2024 temporary articles, successful completion of law degree, including Canadian Evidence course, and subject to budgetary approval. Applications for articles not linked to summer positions are expected to be accepted from mid-January to late February 2024. Details on how to apply for those positions will be available through the home page of the BC Government’s articling website starting in January 2024.

Who Can Apply
Anyone who is currently enrolled in Law School in Canada who will have completed their second year by May 2024.

Students should be prepared to live in or near the community where they have accepted an articling position for the articling term.

An eligibility list may be established to fill future vacancies.

Indigenous Student Stream
The Ministry of Attorney General is particularly interested in receiving applications from Indigenous law students who are First Nations, Métis or Inuit. Indigenous law students are invited to apply for the Indigenous-specific position as well as the open stream articling positions. Each year, the B.C.
