The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure plans transportation networks, provides transportation services and infrastructure, develops and implements transportation policies, and administers many related acts, regulations and federal-provincial funding programs. The Ministry strives to build and maintain a safe and reliable transportation system and provide affordable, efficient and accessible transportation options for all British Columbians.

The Transportation Entry Level Program (TELP) program provides mentorship, coaching, and comprehensive training, all geared to help TELP’s career growth and future growth within the ministry. Becoming a TELP provides you with a broader range of work experiences, while allowing you to maintain a great work life balance. You will live, work and play in some of the most beautiful landscapes in "Supernatural British Columbia." The purpose of the program is to recruit recent graduates from educational institutions with relevant education (diplomas and degrees) and provide them with the training, mentorship and practical work experience required to perform the duties of the full working level positions. Each TELP participant is provided an under-implemented employment offer at the Grid 15 level, supported by a job-specific training guide. Participants graduate into the Grid 18 level upon completion of the necessary training and demonstration they are fully performing at the Grid 18 level.

Job Requirements:

  • Recent post-secondary program graduation (program completion by spring of current year or within the last seven years) with a diploma/degree in a related field, or equivalent.

NOTE:Please check the education and experience requirements for the specific position you are interested in.

  • Depending on the position, must be willing and able to work outside (including drive and travel) in all weather conditions during periods of inclement weather and/or rough terrain, including ascending or descending structures; working in active construction sites, rough terrain, around traffic and construction equipment.
  • Depending on the position, must be willing and able to work outside of normal business hours as well as some public speaking.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.

About this Position:
This position can be based in any Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent and/or temporary vacancies.
Applicants will be appointed to the appropriate classification level based on their qualifications.
