Our interests include preserving history of Japanese settlement in Southern Alberta, as well as exploring aspects of traditional and present-day arts, crafts and culture.
Job description
** Position is subject to funding availability and program qualifications**
The Animator/VFX Artist is responsible for researching, designing and developing animations for the WebVR project and other digital content. They are also responsible for creating visually engaging motion graphics and assisting with visual effects using particles, animation, sprites and materials. This position is fully remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing animations that are needed for the WebVR project and other digital content.
- Collaborating with other members of the team to ensure that all design briefs are adhered to.
- Utilize After Effects, Blender, Unity or related animation software to create interactive animations and special effects.
- Present ideas and research findings to Project Lead.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Brainstorming with the team to discuss digital animation concepts, ideas and progress on current projects.
- Creating simulations and mockups to be viewed and approved.
- Attend weekly meetings and update team on progress.
- Provide input and assist with social media campaigns.
- Must be willing to work in a team.
This internship is funded by the Government of Canada and work terms are under the Digital Skills for Youth (DS4Y) Program. DS4Y, an initiative from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), provides an opportunity for youth to gain valuable training and work experience needed for today’s digital economy.
Eligibility Criteria To participate in the Digital Skills for Youth Program:
- Be between the ages of 15 and 30, inclusive, at the start of the internship
- Be a Post-Secondary Graduate (i.e. has completed a diploma or degree following secondary education, not necessarily a Canadian Institute)
- Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or person who has been granted Refugee Status.
- Self-assess as Underemployed, meaning they are employed below their level of education and/or hold part-time employment, or are unemployed
- Should not have been DS4Y participant since the inception of the program. This is once per lifetime participation
- Post Approval as a DS4Y Intern - be exclusively funded by only one DS4Y Delivery Organisation (click to view list) and employed by one IHO/employer only
- Not be in receipt of Employment Insurance during the course of the work placement
- Not be employees of the hiring employer/IHO prior to the start of their internship
