Alumni Engagement Coordinator

Position Summary
Do you enjoy building strong relationships with alumni, volunteers and the community. We welcome you to join our Philanthropy and Alumni Relations team as a Alumni Engagement Coordinator.

The Alumni Engagement Coordinator is responsible for building strong relationships with donors, alumni, volunteers and other communities of interest in key regions through the implementation of plans to maximize philanthropic support and increase alumni involvement with Red Deer Polytechnic. This is a multifaceted and key role within the Alumni Relations team. The main objective is to help RDP maintain and develop relationships with a global community of over 80,000 alumni through relevant, targeted, and timely engagement that supports RDP’s strategic goals.

Position Responsibilities
Alumni Engagement & Strategic Planning
  • Provide professional expertise and advice to RDP by participating in the development of long-term and annual engagement plans and programs that are data-driven and donor-centric in a specific region
  • Plan, implement and monitor engagement plans in response to RDP and School-based needs and the Polytechnic’s overall objectives
  • Provide a liaison function between External Relations and the Schools to strengthen relationships between alumni and the Schools
  • Identify, research, and cultivate prospective donors and develop solicitation plans
  • Interpret, analyze, and report on information related to alumni
  • Participate in overall strategies regarding fundraising, business relations, public relations, special events, alumni relations, cultivation, and stewardship activities for identified regions
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospects, donors and volunteers through programming and by other means such as one-to-one meetings and phone contact; identify and engage alumni of influence
Relationship Development
  • Remains current in alumni program / service trends. Researches and recommends new programs, services and revenue-generating programs, on and off campus, to engage alumni in the mission and vision of the College.
  • Participates in evaluation of alumni and student program outcomes to ensure continued engagement and cultivation of students and alumni to enhance their relationship with RDC and facilitate lifelong relationships.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of a comprehensive institute-wide alumni engagement program.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with alumni individuals, groups and networks, and collaborate with them to facilitate alumni-led events and engagement activity.
Alumni Association & Student Alumni Relations
  • Principal liaison with the RDP Alumni Association Board under its organizational structure as a representative from RDP.
  • Plays an integral role in developing an effective Alumni Association with a positive image, promoting participation and increased involvement through volunteer opportunities.
  • Builds networking opportunities for current and prospective alumni through maintenance of the RDP Alumni website and other alumni channels.
  • Provides support to all Alumni Association related activities including budgeting, PO creation and management of TD Affinity partnership
  • Working with RDP marketing strategist and the board, to develop strategic and creative plans to best inform and engage current and student alumni
  • Providing alumni the means to serve their alma mater in a meaningful way
  • Provides opportunities for social and professional networking activities among alumni and friends of the Polytechnic
  • Lead the implementation and management of the RDP Student Alumni Association

Required Qualifications
Two (2) years of post-secondary training, completion of a community college certificate including trades apprenticeships or equivalent. Please specify which program is required for this role:Business, Project Management

Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, leadership skills and volunteer coordination.
  • Fundraising experience, knowledge of philanthropic process, researching and making recommendations.
  • Proficient with social media communication methods, special events implementation and planning.
  • Experience working with Major Gifts, Planned Giving and Annual Giving initiatives preferred.
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database an asset.
  • Preference will be given to RDC Alumni.
  • CFRE designation is preferred.

Benefits and Compensation Information
An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
