AGRICULTURE MECHANIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of an agriculture mechanic involves maintaining, repairing, and servicing agricultural equipment and machinery used in farming operations.

The Duties and responsibilities as follow:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on farm equipment including tractors, combines, harvesters, planters, and irrigation systems to ensure proper functioning during peak seasons.
  • Diagnosis and Repair: Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in agricultural machinery using diagnostic tools and manuals.
  • Component Replacement: Replace or repair faulty parts such as engines, transmissions, belts, bearings, and hydraulic systems.
  • Welding and Fabrication: Utilize welding and fabrication skills to repair damaged equipment components or create custom parts as needed.
  • Preventive Maintenance Planning: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime during critical periods of agricultural activity.
  • Equipment Testing: Conduct performance tests and adjustments to ensure machinery meets safety and efficiency standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities for compliance and warranty purposes.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for oneself and others.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate with farmers or farm managers to understand equipment issues, explain repairs, and provide cost estimates.
  • Field Support: Provide on-site support during planting, harvesting, or other critical farm operations to address equipment breakdowns promptly.

A skilled Agriculture mechanic requires a combination of formal education, hands-on training, and practical experience working with agricultural equipment.

Language: need to speak and listen basic English is must. Writing and reading is advantage
