Your role

You are the face and voice of MEC. You provide exceptional member service, by sharing your expertise and advice to match people with gear that suits their needs. Thanks to you, it’s a great place to work and shop. You keep members coming back again and again. You are available to work both Saturday and Sundays, with some availability during the week as well.

You are a ‘can do’ person who likes to learn new things. You are good natured and have a welcoming vibe. You’re outgoing and genuinely like helping people. Customer service is not just your skill, it’s your mindset. You will go out of your way to provide an excellent member experience. Previous retail or customer service experience are a plus, not a must. You can lift 50 lbs. and walk 10,000 steps per day.

You’re passionate about the outdoors. You have product knowledge in camping, cycling, packs or any other outdoor activity, that’s a great asset. You have fully open availability to work on Saturdays and Sundays as well as some availability on . Bonus points, if you are also available to work a variety of shifts between Monday and Friday, 7:00 am and 9:00 pm.

The HOW

You connect with members by sharing your passion for an active lifestyle. You ask open-ended questions to build loyalty with members, while demonstrating product knowledge and understanding their needs. You’re stoked to share MEC clinics, services and events. The leadership behaviors we look for at MEC - personal integrity and awareness, customer focus, initiative and character, team work and ability to develop self and others - are part of your skill set.

The WHAT

You help members get great gear, with the industry-leading advice they need to feel inspired about their activity. You take pride in the visual presentation of our business. You work behind the scenes and on the frontline to organize inventory and get members the products they need.

You talk to members about our products. You have in-depth knowledge and love sharing personal recommendations. You have an affinity for helping people of all skill levels find the right product.
