• 1 Permanent Full-time, Afternoon, 4 on – 2 off, 2 x 3 PM-11 PM and 2 x 4 PM-12 AM
• 1 Permanent Part-time, Awake Night 4 on – 4 off, 12AM-8 AM
• 1 Temporary Full-time, Morning, 4 on – 2 off, 2 x 7 AM-3 PM and 2 x 8 AM-4 PM
• 1 Temporary Full-time, Afternoon, 4 on – 2 off, 3 PM-11 PM
• Casual All Shifts

ABOUT THE JOB:
Provides care to adults with moderate to severe behavioral and developmental challenges in a home setting. Responds effectively to the clients’ needs and behaviors. Carries out the behavioral plan, administers mediations, connects and supports individuals within the community, builds on capabilities, accompanies on outings and appointments. Is also responsible for personal care, shopping, cooking, cleaning and general maintenance of the home and yard.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:**

• Diploma in Human/Social Service field and
• Experience working with adults with moderate to severe behavioural and developmental challenges.
• Or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Current certifications in Emergency First Aid with CPR-C, Safe Food Handling, Mandt/CPI and SafeTALK is an asset

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Valid Unrestricted Class 4 driver’s license and safe driving record (abstract)
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to interact effectively and support individuals with moderate to several behavioural and developmental diverse abilities including autistic individuals
• Strong experience providing life skills support and development in the home and community
• Knowledge and ability to do home tasks: housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation
• Good communication, documentation, interpersonal and conflict management skills
• Personal care knowledge and skills
• Knowledge and skill in connecting individuals with appropriate community resources
• Ability to:

o Provide appropriate behaviour management by following care plans of the individuals
o Provide emotional support by teaching coping techniques and adaptive behaviours
o Recognize and deal effectively with crisis situations using appropriate interventions
o Effectively liaise and communicate between client and their care team
o Advocate for the best interests of the individuals
o Support clients in gaining independence.
o Follow health and safety protocols and procedures
o Work effectively independently and as a strong member of a team
o Work co-operatively and effectively with other professionals, co-workers and supervisors

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• TB testing showing free from TB
• This position requires Union membership
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search - will be reimbursed by the organization upon hire
