About The Role

An exciting and challenging role within TransAlta for a Contract Systems Administrator, Energy Trading within the Legal group. The successful candidate will report to Legal Counsel, Trading Operations and be part of the team that supports Energy Trading. The candidate will be knowledgeable in various contract systems and procedures and provide back-up assistance to the contract trading role as required. The position will appeal to an individual who thrives in a fast paced environment, is able to prioritize and manage a variety of tasks simultaneously, has excellent communications skills and is interested in contributing to achieving business results in a rapidly changing and challenging area of the energy business.

What You Will Do

  • eContracts administration:
    • Work closely with users to determine their needs and provide guidance for set up
    • Permissions:
      • Set up new users in SharePoint and eContracts
      • Receive and act on Smart Services Ticket requests
      • Respond to staff changes notices
    • Coordinating and working closely with vendor:
  • Maintaining system integrity
  • Coordinating resolution of outstanding issues
  • Identifying and coordination enhancements
    • Troubleshooting:
    • Assist with training of users and assist with keeping training documentation current
    • System upgrades; patch testing and maintenance in staging, production and Disaster Recovery sites
    • Uploading documents into system for internal clients
    • Notify all users of outages and upcoming maintenance
    • Involvement with the Power BI Platform
    • Develop and maintain procedures for admin and users


  • Accounting and Trading Systems
    • Trouble shoot issues encountered by traders and settlements team
    • Upgrade and patch testing
  • Assist and back up to Contract Administrator by assisting with:
    • Contracts Management:
      • Coordinating and monitoring contract documentation workflow and priorities among various internal and external stakeholders and ensuring all documentation complies with relevant corporate and contract policies and procedures
      • Communicating directly with counterparties regarding requests for new trading agreements
      • Preparing execution documentation including obtaining required internal approvals and signatures and ensuring that all required corporate documents are sent and received
    • Contract Administration:
      • Creating, maintaining and disable counterparty profiles and contracts on internal trading and Accounting systems
      • Ensuring supporting documentation and executed contracts are complete and posted in the various records management systems
    • Other related tasks as required, including responding to requests from Internal Audit and members of the legal team as assigned.
Authority

  • Financial spending authority in accordance with Financial Policy 202. (210 and CEMP)

What We Need From You

  • Degree or diploma in business administration, IT or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years System Admin/IT or related experience.
  • A strong background in Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Adobe is a necessity and database management and SAP is a definite asset.
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to be responsive to multiple requests, on a timely basis, in a fast-paced, high-energy work environment.
  • Able to work independently on a variety of simultaneous projects and tasks.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Committed to enhancing and maintaining a compliance culture; strong ethics coupled with respect for the highest compliance standards.
  • Committed to working additional hours if and when required to complete all major accountabilities within necessary deadlines.
