Your Opportunity:

Under the supervision of the Managers of the Gastroenterology Outpatient Clinics and Services and the GI Central Access Triage (CAT) Nurse Clinician, the responsibilities of the Triage Administrative Support III duties include: processing and recording incoming referrals, communicating with physicians’ offices and patients, collecting and reporting required statistical data and other related duties. Working in a collaborative environment, the Clerk III works closely with physicians, nurses, and other team members. The successful candidate must be fluent in English and have the ability to work with a variety of computer programs. The current hours of operation of CAT are 0800h–1615h Monday through Friday. Hours of operation are subject to change to meet operational requirements. The successful candidate may be required to assist in other areas of the clinic based on operational requirements.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year of current medical or clerical experience required. Extensive experience and competence with multiple computer systems required - including MS Word and Excel. Accurate keyboarding required (at least 50 words/minute). Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task required. Ability to adapt to changing/expanding environment required. Excellent English verbal and written skills required. Ability to work with frequent interruptions required. Ability to foster positive interpersonal and communication skills with health care providers, allied health care professionals, peers, departmental management and other individuals in a professional manner required. Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize, problem solve and handle frequent interruptions required. Ability to use sound judgment and analytical skills using a high degree of accuracy to make decisions regarding patient referrals required. Experience with office equipment, such as fax, photocopier, and multi-line telephones required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of a recognized Medical Terminology course preferred. Experience using Clinibase, Cerner Millennium, Netcare, and endoPro Connect Care preferred. Previous Gastroenterology and Outpatient experience preferred.
