As a member of the Addictions Supportive Housing team, you will be supporting individuals who experience addictions concerns and have struggled with housing stability.By providing affordable, independent apartments with supports on-site, your team will be at the ready to provide early support and intervention, when clients need it most.This approach ultimately prevents concerns from escalating to a point that would have resulted in eviction in a non-supportive or market rent housing situation, accomplishing our goal of keeping our clients housed.”Consider revitalizing your career and making a difference in your community by joining our team!WHAT WE’RE OFFERING:
  • What you’ll be making - $22.33 - $25.71 per hour, rate based on proof of comparable, previous experience
  • When you’ll work - 70 hours over two-week period

  • PSLRTA Notice - On September 29, 2022, a vote was held as a result of an application by the Organization under the Public Sector Labour Relations Transition Act. HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:
  • Manage a caseload of clients involved in the agency’s supportive housing program
  • Conduct standardized assessment using approved tools to determine specific needs, goals, characteristics, problems, stage of change and eligibility into the program and overall treatment
  • Conduct a life skills assessment to determine client’s specific needs to enhance independent living capabilities and promote self-efficacy (e.g. money management, food preparation, fire safety, housekeeping, etc.)
  • Support individualized treatment plans and provide input or feedback to a primary counsellor
  • Maximize client participation in programming and pro-social community activities; actively promote self-efficacy according to a Motivational Interviewing approach. This will also include activities such as early intervention, relapse prevention, crisis intervention, follow-up and recovery maintenance
  • Provide intensive case management including regular, continuous contact with the client
  • Assist clients to meet their rent payment obligations through monitoring and defining individual responsibilities, and by liaising with the landlord and/or the Supportive Housing partner as necessary
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY:Vaccination RequirementsCMHA Thames Valley Addiction & Mental Health Services requires that all staff members be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with the rare exemption of those individuals who cannot be vaccinated due to approved exemptions (medical reasons or religious grounds as recognized in the Ontario Human Rights Code). Proof of full vaccination or approval of exemption will be required; further details will be provided to those candidates moving forward in the recruitment process.Police Vulnerable Sector Check RequirementsSuccessful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.We require the following qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field of study e.g. social service work, social work, recreation therapy, or a related discipline
  • Thorough understanding of Housing First and Supportive Housing models
  • Knowledge of addictions, homelessness, mental illness, and community resources.
  • Extensive knowledge of community resources, service & support programs, and barriers clients face in accessing same
  • Experience with crisis intervention and conflict resolution
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to assess level of risk in regards to clients
  • Valid Driver’s License, adequate insurance and access to a vehicle to carry out job duties
  • Current, clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • First Aid & CPR
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly
We prefer the following qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years proven work experience in residential or supportive housing settings including mental health and/or addictions and/or experience working directly at street-level with individuals experiencing homelessness
