About Us

As part of the Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services, the Digital Health division provides quality information to health professionals, the public, researchers, and health system decision makers. Our mandate includes the development and implementation of a confidential and secure provincial electronic health record as well as other provincial clinical information programs, including the change management required to support adoption by end user clinicians.

EPIC has been selected as the preferred digital health solution for this HIS project. This transformational change will allow us to join other Canadian provinces in the modernization of our provincial health information system. In support of the HIS project, it has been determined that the NL Health Services will require recruitment for positions in Clinical Informatics, Information Technology, Analytics and Change Management.

About The Role

As an Accounting Clerk II you will be assigned to the Hospital Billing and Claims and Remittance Application. You will work with other members of the Clinic Informatics team to establish such patient and billing data exchanges. They require either a knowledge of corresponding provincial operations, or a HIS certification of the application they will be implementing. The Accounting Clerk II will be expected to be cross trained between 1-2 applications.

The Accounting Clerk II reports directly to the Informatics Manager- Patient Access Revenue Cycle.

Travel to Wisconsin (United States) for training is an expectation of this position. The scheduled date for this training is May 13th, 2024. A valid passport will be required.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

" Analyzing the Hospital Billing information requirements of the organization through consultation with stakeholders, managers, professional staff and evaluating opportunities for using Resolute - Epic’s Hospital Billing application, to meet identified needs and improve efficiencies.

" Ensure key billing office SMEs are engaged in the implementation, specifically in the details for workflow analysis, build, and testing current guidelines for patient health information management and chart completion.

" Creating dictionaries and templates for Hospital Billing, Claims and Remittance functions for example - insurance types, charge codes, room rate codes, claim forms, patient bills, statements, and receipts.

" Facilitating the review of Resolute with prospective users and provide feedback from the consultations to the management and the Revenue Cycle team members.

" Participation in financial regional and provincial committees and user groups to promote system usage and improve data consistency.

" Serving as a financial liaison between end users’ workflow needs and Epic implementation staff.

" Acting as the one of primary financial support contacts for the application’s end-users

" Identifying issues that arise in the Resolute application area as well as issues that impact other application teams and work to resolve them.

" Help with financial workflow design, building and testing the Hospital Billing system.

" Maintaining regular communication with Epic representatives and team members, including participating in weekly project team meetings

" Working with Epic representatives, your organization’s business community, and end users to ensure the system meets the organization’s business needs for the project deliverables and timeline.

" Participating in training and working with end users.

" Troubleshooting problems and questions.

" Participate in weekly communications/meetings with the Revenue Cycle team, Epic representatives, and management to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end user concerns, and upcoming milestones.

" Support change management and deployment of new Hospital Billing system

" Understand the objectives for implementing an HIS and can recognize opportunities for process redesign that will help Hospital Billing and Revenue departments maximize the benefits of the implementation.

" Ensure adherence to governance and Digital Health Division standards (e.g., privacy and security).

" Provide input on the development and implement policies and procedures for providing support for hospital billing applications in the health system.

About You

Required Qualifications: The successful completion of a minimum full time two-year business administration program with an accounting major from a recognized post-secondary institution is required.
