Accountant, Site Accounting, Rocanville - (Rocanville, Saskatchewan, Canada)

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Site Accounting, Potash, this position completes transactional accounting tasks and prepares reports to ensure Nutrien’s accounting related information is kept current, readily accessible and accurately reported. Key activities are in support of the accounting function for a specified site and/or process.


This position is located in Rocanville, Saskatchewan, Canadaand is not available for remote work.

What you will do:

  • Complete day-to-day accounting, month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries, costing, classification review, and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Monthly review of the general and subsidiary ledgers
  • Responsible for monthly potash and salt royalty calculations and reports
  • Act as a liaison with other departments to assist with financial analysis and communications on accounting policy and procedures
  • Review the general and subsidiary ledgers, on a monthly basis, to ensure accounting procedures are followed, making adjusting entries when needed
  • Assist Sr. Accountant with capital project/fixed asset tasks as required
  • Support and assist with continuous improvement initiatives and projects
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned


What you will bring:

  • A CPA designation
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a recognized institution
  • A minimum of 5 years accounting experience preferred
  • Strong computer (MS Office – Excel) skills
  • Oracle experience is considered an asset
  • Commitment to safety and integrity

  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills, and ability to engage and prioritize when involved with multiple initiatives and changing priorities

  • Ability to perform effectively in a changing environment
  • Understanding of IFRS
