Remote Work:


This position is eligible for remote work, within Canada, under our mobile workforce program.


WestJet is seeking a Revenue Accountant reporting to our Finance & Accounting office.
This role requires the use of several technology systems for investigation, analysis and reporting and is expected to execute accounting skills during month-end processes to accurately record journal entries, perform account reconciliations and prepare invoicing requirements for certain customers. This role requires strong skill level with Excel and is considered a highly collaborative role that will manage tasks and projects relating to the travel bank, gift card and charter programs


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the month-end close process, including the preparation of month-end journal entries, accruals and reconciliations, investigations and analysis where required
  • Finance lead for commercial charter program including reviewing contracts to determine billing requirements, developing detailed billing templates and significant cross-functional collaboration with internal teams to facilitate accurate accounting and invoicing processes
  • Finance lead for travel bank program, including testing and implementation of product upgrades and enhancements, accounting, reconciliation, and analysis of the liability and providing general support to various internal teams
  • Finance lead for gift card program, including testing and implementation of product enhancements, evaluating program expansion opportunities, accounting and reconciliations including variance and other analysis where requested and providing general support to various internal teams
  • Finance lead for ancillary fees review, accrual, analysis and work with their FP&A counterpart for forecasts
  • Manage the day to day administration of a specialized subset of accounts payable and accounts receivable (The Airlines Clearing House), including user system access and training, troubleshooting, invoice follow up, accounting and reconciliation and driving efficiencies in the overall process
  • Prepare and maintain required cSox documentation, including internal controls identification, development and compliance
  • Maintain process documentation and continually look for opportunities to implement efficiencies
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests
  • Support Sr Revenue Accountant to - manage Reference data updates / configurations required for efficient processing in RAPID, set up calls with vendor and ensure timely file exchanges.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an accounting role with progressive levels of responsibility required
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Recent completion or working towards completion of a professional accounting designation preferred (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience is a strong asset and preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) with internal guests and enjoys cross-functional collaboration opportunities
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess the ability to multi-task and meet unexpected deadlines in a demanding environment
  • Airline experience, including knowledge of ticketing processes considered an asset
  • Proficiency in JD Edwards, Sabre, RAPID, Tableau and Power BI is an asset
  • Works well with others, and enjoys working in a high efficiency and social team environment
