My client is part of a global organization with both manufacturing, and service operations located across Canada. They are seeking an Accountant to be part of their team at their Canadian head office in Mississauga.

Your new role

This Accountant will support the objectives of the Corporate Finance Team by performing month end and year end closing activities mainly for the manufacturing facility, and assisting the Accounting Manager with the financial analysis of the entire operation. The Accountant will perform general accounting responsibilities including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments. The Accountant will prepare monthly account reconciliations for the manufacturing facility and assist with month end closing and the analysis of the manufacturing statements. The Accountant will update the budget template and assist with semi-annual budget preparations. The Accountant will assist with the monthly reporting of financial data to parent company. The Accountant will maintain monthly production reports, assist with BOM cost rollup and verify cost build up. The Accountant will process inventory invoices and reconcile major supplier accounts.

The Accountant will reconcile inventory accounts, review and verify inventory price variance, and inventory adjustments. The position will process intercompany transactions, assist with year-end audit and prepare statutory remittances such as NR4 and Excise Tax.

What you’ll need to succeed

You will have 1-3 years of previous experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry. Previous SAP experience is preferred along with inventory accounting. You will hold a completed Degree/Diploma in Accounting or Business-related discipline and be active in the pursuit of the professional accounting program (CPA). Strong Excel skills (Vlookup, Pivot Tables) are required and experience with MS Access would be a strong asset. A solid understanding of full cycle accounting processes and requirements. Excellent attention to detail, and accuracy is required. Demonstrated experience in analysis and planning, with the ability to analyse and anticipate situations, define problems, recognize alternatives and formulate solutions. Ability to meet deadlines, and multi task. Ability to manage time effectively.

Employees are currently working remotely and once its deemed safe to return to the office, a hybrid work model is expected. The position is offering a salary of $55-60,000 + bonus + RSP + education support.
