Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) one of the world’s premier sports and entertainment companies, owns the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL), Toronto Raptors (NBA), Toronto FC (MLS), Toronto Argonauts (CFL), Toronto Marlies (AHL), Raptors 905 (NBA D-League), TFC II (USL) and Raptors Uprising Gaming Club, the Toronto Raptors Esports franchise in the NBA 2K League. Job Description


Position Overview

As a vital member of the Finance team and in keeping with MLSE’s Vision and Values, you will assist the department in delivering winning service to both internal and external customers. The role will primarily focus on providing financial support to our Live events and venue operations team. Through passion, pride and performance, we are all inspired to WIN!

Responsibilities

  • General accounting duties, including preparation of month-end journal entries, accruals and reconciliations
  • Perform month-end P&L analysis to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reasonability
  • Prepare monthly P&L’s for supported departments and prepare business commentary
  • Work closely with the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) team to support the business and understand the annual plan
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and analysis
  • Provide Budget/Forecast assistance to FP&A
  • Assist in preparation of the year-end audit requirements and coordinate with the auditors as needed
  • Respond to ad hoc account inquiries as required
  • Participate in special projects and perform other related assignments as requested

Qualifications
  • Completion of post secondary degree or diploma
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Enrolled in or completed a recognized accounting designation (CPA)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting principles
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and highly detail oriented
  • Confident user of Excel, and experience with accounting and operating systems such as Oracle Cloud ERP
  • Experience in the sports and entertainment industry considered an asset
  • Work well both in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines, multitask, and set priorities as required
