ACADEMIC PROGRAM MANAGER – SOCIAL WORK AND CHILD AND YOUTH CARE

FACULTY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES


NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone who can lead our Social Work and Child and Youth Care programs as they work to prepare learners to make a difference through diversity, inclusion, integrating Indigenous culture, and creating foundational skills to support and empower individuals in our community.


Reporting to the Dean, the Academic Program Manager is a member of the Faculty’s leadership team and assists in managing the operations and provides leadership to the Social Work and Child and Youth Care programs. The Academic Program Manager works across the College to establish, implement, and monitor faculty goals and objectives, focusing on enrolment management, academic policy implementation and monitoring, academic appeals, faculty recruitment and development, program and curriculum quality, and maintaining an effective learning environment.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE


  • Integrate and coordinate divisional activity with activity across the college.
  • Facilitate strategic planning and implementation within the program areas.
  • Ensure that faculty feedback, issues, and concerns are communicated in the planning and are informed to the decision-making processes.
  • Ensure that college, divisional, and Faculty operational directions and requirements are shared with faculty and staff.
  • With the Dean, ensure that program and division budgets support the Academic Plan and college directions.
  • Oversee program promotion of programs, enrolment management, and student retention in addition to ensuring an effective learning environment exists.
  • Working closely with internal and external partners, faculty, and the Dean, oversee the regular review of curriculum to ensure it meets the diversity of our students’ needs while also adhering to industry needs and College policies.
  • Implement educational strategies, programs, practices, and initiatives to ensure success of student, faculty and staff needs.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the development of a strong team within the Faculty, promoting and practicing the NorQuest Qs.
  • Develop quality programming and review ongoing metrics, faculty engagement and performance, curriculum renewal, authentic learning, and assess new opportunities, continuous improvements, and enrolment management.
  • Working jointly with internal partners and Chairs, develop short- and long-term enrolment targets, student recruitment and retention tactics, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to policy development and implementation, and the overall planning and strategic direction of the college and faculty.
  • Recruitment, hiring, onboarding, coaching, mentoring, workload assignment, and development and evaluation of faculty and staff.
  • Manage the operational budget and cost centre, including informing and recommending the baseline, variance reporting, forecasting, and year-end closure processes.


WHAT YOU BRING


  • Related Master’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or Social Sciences.
  • Registration as a Social Worker in Alberta is an asset.
  • Progressive experience in a senior post-secondary administration role.
  • Experience in program development and administration.
  • Experience managing accredited programs and/or working with accrediting bodies including the preparation and management of accreditation applications, annual reporting, and program quality assurance.
  • Teaching experience in a post-secondary environment, preferably in a social sciences field.

SALARY:
$109,575 - $136,997 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
